Round1 Entertainment at the Mall at Fairfield Commons will open next month.
The long-awaited entertainment concept centered around bowling and arcade games will open Nov. 23, said Morgan Garrison, who will be manager for bowling, karaoke, billiards and parties when the location opens.
The Dayton Daily News reported first in September 2018 that the Japan-founded company would open in the former Sears store.
“It’s a good place that families can come and hang out and we’ve got the bar,” Garrison said.
After 10 p.m. the venue becomes 18 and older only. After midnight only people 21 and older can enter, she said. It will include 12 bowling lanes, 250 plus arcade games and other activities.

Experience-based retail is becoming a major focus for malls as consumers want places where they can eat, shop and play all in one place.
Round1, similar to Dave and Buster’s, also offers all-inclusive parties starting at $21.99 for two hours. Food includes pizza, burgers, wings, salads, sides and drinks, including alcohol.
Round1 has roots back to 1980 in Japan under the name Sugino Kosan, the creator of the company. At that time, the entertainment facility had roller skating and arcade games. A few years later when a bowling alley was added, Round1 was born.
In 2010, the company expanded overseas with its first store in Industry, California. Since then it has expanded in the United States to more than 60 locations once all announced stores are complete. As of 2017, there were also 105 stores in Japan.

Along with store growth, the business has seen huge jumps in revenue. In 2014, Round1 USA executed $12.7 million in sales. Last year it projected sales worth $107 million, according to its website.
The Round1 location is currently hiring, according to its website. The experiential concept will have 60 to 70 employees in addition to its seven-person management team, Garrison said.
Sears closed in early December. The upper floor of Sears will be furniture store The Room Place.
